Application through Uni-Assist's new online portal - Step-by-step guide
Log In
After logging into your account, you'll be prompted to enter your personal data.

For DoSV studies, you'll be asked for the BID and BAN numbers, which are provided by hochschulstart.de.

The application process via http://hochschulstart.de is a special procedure for students who wish to apply for a local "NC" (Numerus Clausus) at a German university. You need to register on http://hochschulstart.de to obtain your BID and BAN as shown above. For more information on all application procedures via uni-assist, check our other articles.
Search for a Study Program
You'll then be redirected to the training catalogue page.

Here's an explanation of the site:
-
On the left side, you can enter your search criteria, for example the program you want to study, the semester, and the university.
-
In the top right, you have different tabs:
-
In the "My Account" tab, you can edit your personal data and payment information.
-
In the "My Applications" tab, you'll find the applications you've already made.
-
In the "My Mailbox" tab, you can see the messages you've received.
-
The last tab on the right is the shopping cart. There you'll see the registration fees for the course(s) you've chosen and you can make the payment.
-
Before Submitting Your Documents
Your application will be reviewed as soon as you've paid the fees. So you first need to pay the fees for the applications you want to submit to the "shortlist."
There are, however, two important points you need to pay attention to before submitting your documents. Make sure that
-
you've entered all basic information accurately, especially your educational background, and
-
you've uploaded all required documents, the list of which is available on the universities' websites.
You may need to answer several questions from the universities before you can submit your application.
Pay the Fees
Depending on the study program and the universities' requirements, you may receive different payment requests, but they generally look like this:

There are three payment methods:

After paying the fees, you'll receive an email from uni-assist confirming or informing you of the status of your payment. The next step is to send all the necessary documents by mail to the uni-assist office in Berlin. The address is:
